Today started better than others. Frank slept all the way from 7:30pm to 6am. I did wake up several times, just like always, to look at the time and be glad he is still asleep. After breakfast and watching the sprinklers, Frank played by himself on the floor. I was getting thirsty. How about a nice glass of orange juice, I thought. I get the glass out of the cupboard. I open the fridge and there are alot of stuff in there. We just stocked up at Costco over the weekend. Of course, the new OJ is still in the big cardboard box. I open the box and there are 4 cartons but there top is dirty. Let me get a sponge. Frank starts to squeak. Ok baby love, mommy be there in a minute. Rinse off the sponge and starts cleaning the top of the carton. Little squeaks becomes big loud squeaks. Ok sweetie, mommy just cleaning the OJ boxes. Oh the shelf is dirty. While I have the sponge let me wipe that off too. Sponge now needs a rinse. Frank is now screaming. Ok, ok I’m coming. Throw the sponge in the sink. I dash over and picks him up. Now he is a happy clam. While carrying him with one arm, I get back into the kitchen. The OJ cartons are still outside. One by one I put them back into the fridge.
After some more playing, Frank goes down for his first nap. He was not going down without a fight. After some crying, I pick him up. We bounce, sing some nursey rhymes, change a diaper, and play by the mirror. Half an hour later, let’s try napping again. No way mom! After some more crying, I pat him without picking him up and leave again. I haven’t washed my face yet. I bet that will take my mind off the crying. Luckily, when I’m done, he has quieted down and gone to sleep. Nap only lasted 30 min. I can’t remember what I did in that time.
Off we go to the post office to mail some of those cute adorable pictures of Frank to grandpa in China and grandma in NY. That was quick and fun. Back home Frank is again playing on the floor with his toys. I’m feeling alittle thristy. Oh here is a glass sitting on the counter. Wait, I was gonna have some OJ. Back in the fridge I get out the OJ and pour a full glass cuz by now I’m really thristy. I take a sip and Frank starts to squeak. Look at the time. He must be hungry. Better get his lunch ready. Some cereal, mixed with some breastmilk, mixed with some yogurt in his favorite bowl. All stirred up and popped into the microwave. Frank sees all this and is getting impatient. Sounds like he is singing “Mommy dear mommy dear, you’re taking too long oh mommy dear” to the music of yellow bus. I get him into his chair, put a bib on, take the bowl out of the microwave, mix it up some and test it for temperture. Perfect! Ok bug, open wide. 5 minutes later it is all gone. Frank is still hungry. How about some green beans love? Pop open a new jar of Gerber. 5 minutes later that is gone. Hmm, is he still hungry? Maybe I’ll nurse him just to be sure. Never turns it down, my little hungry catepillar. 5 minutes later he is really done. Big burp all over his shirt and mine. Let’s change into some new clothes. With a new cute outfit, Frank goes into his Exersaucer.
WOW, it’s time for my lunch. I wasn’t feeling hungry yet but better take this opportunity while he is full and happy. Heat up some spaghetti. Oh look, my glass of OJ. I take a big gulp while lunch is being zapped. Doesn’t really go with spaghetti so I’ll drink some more later. Just as I have two more bites to finish, Frank let’s me know he is done in the Exersaucer. Ok, baby love, mommy have two more bites. I’ll be right there. (smile and wave from kitchen table). Now mom, now… WAAHHHHH. I hurry to finish off those bites and puts the tuperware in the sing with some water. You know if you leave that and it drys, so much harder to wash off. Meanwhile, Frank’s face is turning red and he is stumping his feet. Arms pounding on the crabby bell and mostly screaming from the lack of attention he is getting. I get him out and we go play in the backyard. Nice trees, nice flowers, nice breeze, little sun behind the clouds. Lovely.
The breeze brings a familiar smell. Diaper change! On the changing table, Frank is rolling to play with the shower curtain. I’m trying not to get poop all over the place and save him from rolling off. Finally, I get the new diaper on the and dispose of the smelly one. I wash my hands. Now he is trying to roll the other way to help me turn the hot water on. What a helpful bug. Where were we, more Exersaucer? No! Bash the hanging cow? No! Oh, it’s nap time. Back in the crib. Only protested slightly this time. Now I’m back at my desk thinking, I’m kinda thristy. Ah yes, my OJ. For the thirty minutes he slept, I was able to sit here, write this blog, and drink my orange juice. =)
