Frank starts preschool

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009 by diane

On Frank’s 3rd birthday we started him at Anacortes Co-op preschool.  It is three days a week from 9 to noon.  The first day I stayed with him and he enjoyed the teacher as well as the activities.  He is still shy but went along with everything without complaint.  At night I lightly mentioned that tomorrow I have to come home to take care of Timmy since Grandma is not available.  He didn’t say anything.  And so the following day I stayed for 30 mins and then said goodbye and he said ok.  I returned 30 mins before class was over and watched him participate in circle time.  He is growing up to the a big boy.  Today he didn’t want to go but after getting there he stayed.  Once we got home he told us he has homework.  He has to make a card for Miss Ashley.  He also forgot to play in the alphabet fishing pond so he will do that tomorrow.  I’m relieved he is excited to go tomorrow.

Doctor appointments

Timmy

We found new pediatricians 5 mins for our house.  Yesterday Timmy had his 1 year checkup.  We all went to get Frank familiar with the people since today is his appointment.  Uncle Al came and helped.  Timmy started to fuss as soon as I took his clothes off.  Then they had to do an iron test and poked his big toe.  That got him really mad.  Then he just screamed non-stop and tried to peel the band-aid off.  I had to half yell to converse with the doctor.  Timmy measured 18 lbs, down to 3%, and 30 in, staying at 50%.  He is long and skinny and very healthy and strong so nothing to worry about.  More shots but he was happy once we left the building.  So far no reaction of any kind.

Frank

Today we all headed there again for Frank’s 3 years old appointment.  The nurse told him to take off his shoes and stand against the wall and then onto the scale.  He followed all her directions and measured 3 feet tall and 34 lbs.  About 20% height and 30% weight.  Short and chubby compared to Timmy’s stats.  Then she wanted to try the eye exam.  We stood close to the chart and she asked him to identify the shapes.  When she got to the moon Frank said crescent.  First she was going to correct him and say moon, but then she realized what he said and there was an incredibly impressed expression on her face and I was so proud of him at that moment.  Then we moved far far away from the chart and Frank said all the right things so his eyesight is just fine.  His shots were all up to date but when the doctor said so we’ll see you again when you are 4, Frank replied, NO.  How about 5, she asked.  He said, NO.  We’ll see, she said.
