Frank learning about money

Monday, August 31st, 2009 by diane

When Timmy naps, Frank is going to paint today. Nat asks, “What are you going to paint?” Frank replies, “I’m going to paint money.”

Afternoon snack I gave him an extra raisin. Frank says, “I’ll give you a quarter for the raisin.” I held out my hand. He gave me air. “A pretend quarter” It wasn’t a pretend raisin! He says, “I don’t have any real money.”

More and more words, twenty four words

Friday, August 28th, 2009 by diane

Timmy continues to imitate what we say and sound out words. New ones he is consistently saying are:

  1. aann - ant
  2. sa - sock
  3. something for pinecone that I can’t spell phonetically
  4. eve - leaves
  5. dandan - grandma or grandpa - watch the timmy phone hog video at the end he says it for the first time.
  6. something for chocolate I can’t spell either - he rather have just chocolate than s’mores, especially since he can eat them faster and get more
  7. maaney - tomato, first time Timmy said this was in the backseat of the car after we picked the tomatoes from grandma’s garden. Timmy kept saying it and we kept giving the cherry tomatoes to him. He ate almost the entire batch by the time we reached home.
  8. dab - crab - mama dab - as he watch mommy picking lots of crab
  9. gigi - his little private part in chinese
  10. ding ding - bell on the bike, wind chime, door bell
  11. stomp - Frank got a stomp rocket toy and Timmy loves it!
  12. moon - not very new but don’t remember if I already wrote this. Star and moon in his room. Kitten’s First Moon story and then all round things were ball ball or moon. Learning some are sun but not said the word yet. Moon on Dr. Bus’s boat called Moondance
  13. blehbleh - garbage or yucky things. He is very picky and while eating a seedless watermelon picked out the white seeds and said blehbleh handing it to me. Same thing at breakfast while eating a poppyseed muffin for the poppyseed.
  14. bloo - blue
  15. bloobloo - blueberry
  16. wahwah - rock
  17. whale
  18. eeeeuuuuw - bouy
  19. bebe - baby, Frank’s friend left her baby doll at our house and Timmy said bebe for the first time.
  20. uhoh - when he drops something on the floor, which is often when he is eating

Ok, that wasn’t quite 24 but close enough.

Timmy says MINE

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009 by diane

Timmy grabbed Frank’s bunny that was sleeping on the bed and said bundi, MINE. When I told the story to Nat, Frank got very upset and said “Timmy, bunny is mine. Yours is Yaya.”

potty training x 2

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009 by diane

Timmy made his first cho (poop) in the potty today. Just a little one and as soon as I put his diaper on and asked him to take his nap he ran off. That was unusual. Then next thing I know he made a big one in the diaper. Coincidence? Last night I saw him standing there with concentrated look so I said did you cho? I checked him and he was clean. Then he went back to the brush to play and 2 seconds later came running to me and patting his butt. I said did you cho? He ran back to the brush and I thought he was playing catch me game. Came back again patting his butt. When I caught him his diaper needed changing.

On the other front, Frank has finally agreed to cho in the potty. I guess the promise of Naniamo bars finally did the trick. We hope he doesn’t regress back again like last time. Of course now I have more cleaning to do. I asked for it.

Finally more teeth

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009 by diane

Timmy is finally growing more teeth. Not that having only 8 teeth in front ever stopped him from chomping up steak. Now the top right premolar is out and the canine next to it is coming as well. The bottom left premolar is out too. He must save them to come out together like last time 4 teeth came at the same time.

More Timmy words

Today he said his first two word sentence. dumm way! It translates to “jump away” and refers to when I was putting the trampoline away. Other new words are:
elmet - helmet
bean
ahumm - for yum or for eating with finger pointing to mouth
tan ju - thank you with sign
STA! - STOP! with hand out in front. he often tells Frank to stop but Frank just ignores him
noose - nose
spoon
bool - bowl
shooz - shoes
ale - whale

And fisss is now FISHIE. Watch.

Missing our friends

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009 by diane

We finally had our garage sale and Frank had a money belt with some quarters. We are trying to teach him about money now. He told me “Auntie Maggie’s car has a sun roof and Akamai says money and candy is going to fall in from it. Yippie!” Frank often plays “oh no, the giants are coming” except no one else is playing with him so the game ends pretty fast. We found a new beach that has nice smooth sand. Frank says “next time when Akamai comes, we can bring her here.”

Frank was so lonely after all the friends left. We had a preschool friend come play. Then we played with the neighbors. For once he went to the neighbor’s house and stayed there without me. They had a jump house and they fed him p&j. Now he always wants to go play with Thomas and Zach.

Frank requested to do homework like Akamai everyday. So I got him some crayons just like Akamai’s and a coloring book. He works on it everyday. Today we came to the dock house again and he wanted to do it on the ferry boat but it was buried in a bag in the car. So he was sad he didn’t do homework today. Twice as much tomorrow =)

Frank the big brother

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009 by diane

Driving home from the ferry terminal Frank was pretenting to talk on the phone with grandma.  We asked him if she was there.  He said no but continued to talk into the phone about what we did at the dock house.  Then Timmy really wanted the phone and held out his hand saying badibadi.  Frank calmly told him just one more min and then you can have a turn Timmy.  But after Frank gave it to Timmy he could not get it back.  Timmy was not as kind and generous.  Frank said please please and Timmy just shook his hand back and forth saying NUO NUO.  Let’s see Timmy the phone hog on video.

Tonight Frank had a cup with a straw and Timmy really wanted it.  Frank said “ok Timmy, you can have just one sip.”  Then Timmy wouldn’t give it back.  Poor Frank.  Finally I left the straw with Timmy and gave Frank a new straw.  Timmy chewed up the other straw, threw it down and wanted the cup again.  Frank said “ok but I’m holding the cup.”  Well Timmy then took the straw.  I tried to give the other straw to Frank but he said “it is all chewed up.”  Poor guy was so nice to the little brother so I finally just grabbed the cup back from Timmy.

What did we learn from these experiences?

More new words and doctor checkup

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009 by diane

On the ferry boat coming home, Uncle Sol said Hello to Timmy and Timmy said hello. We all looked at each other like did that just come out of Timmy? Timmy says “bum bum” for lump in the bump as that is now the favorite activity for Frank, Akamai and Timmy.

Timmy measured 33 inches and 23 lbs. He was very upset as I dropped Frank off at the park with Auntie Maggie. Timmy kept saying “badi badi” which means I want and started to cry as I drove him away from the park. Then once the nurse came at him with a head measuring tape, that was the start of a long screaming fit. Even the nurse said he was strong and we had to measure the weight by subtracting me from me and him. And to top it off he got a splinter under the nail of his left ring finger. So the doctor and nurse and me together managed to hold him still enough to remove it. All this and then another shot on the leg. The little guy was hicupping from crying so much. He kept saying “badi badi” and pointing to the door. Finally we made it back to the park and he was happy hanging on the monkey bars and climbing on the playstructure.

Timmy’s words

Saturday, August 1st, 2009 by diane

No is now his favorite word! Everything is no and it is said with a pouting face while the head twists to one side and pronounced “Nuew”.

Another word is “down.” He started saying is while going down the stairs. He climbs up one and goes down one. Only saying down on the way down and not saying up on the way up.

Timmy says “WAY!” when trying to scare away the birds or telling dogs to go away. Likely learned from big brother who says “go away [birds, dogs, etc]“.

Says mamamama alot. When seeing me, when looking for me, when getting my attention.

Says “badi” which translates to give me and/or I want. Frank is also saying badi when Timmy says it and gets what he asked for.

Says something for thank you while doing the sign. I don’t have the sound down yet.
