Dec 2009 - What the kids are saying now
Friday, December 18th, 2009 by dianeTimmy found a string and is playing with it. He comes over to Frank and says “Frank, pull pull.” Basically asking Frank to pull the other end of the string. Frank looked at it and said, “no Timmy, I think that is too dangerous.” Then went back to coloring his book.
One morning Frank came down and read the clock “7-3-4″. That night Nat commented to me on how now Frank can tell him what time it is in the morning without him needing to look over at the clock. He also told me he has an 8am meeting the next morning. In the morning Frank came down as usual. He said “7-5-7″. I looked over and it was 7:27. Two minutes later Nat got up and was ready to head to his office for the meeting til he looked at the clock and told Frank it was not 7-5-7. Then I was laughing so hard I don’t remember what happened next.
I was showing Frank that I only had one page left on my calendar. I told him I’ll need a new one soon. Frank said, “or you can just start on the first page again.”
Frank is sitting at the table with s eating lunch. As usual the rest of us are done but he is still eating. We cut up some apples are started to eat them. We put some in front of him for after he finish his lunch. Then he started to talk to his food. And his food talked back. Here is the conversation:
Apple: I’m ready for you to eat me.
Frank: I want to eat you.
Apple: Why aren’t you eating me?
Frank: Because my mommy says I have to finish my sandwich first
Apple: oh ok. bye-bye.
Frank was spinning a plastic cup and Timmy was watching him. Timmy clearly said “careful”
One morning both boys were up at 6am but didn’t come down til 7am. When I asked Frank what happened he said “I gave Timmy two choices. Go bother mommy or play. He said play.”
We found a dead bird on the side of the house. I’m totally grossed out and now the kids won’t play outside. It looked stiff so I think it was frozen to death. Today Nat went out to get rid of it while I was cooking lunch. Next thing I know I hear a tapping on the glass door. I look over and Nat is pecking the door with the bird’s beak. I’m totally disgusted and freaked out and runs away and starts to cry. Nat comes in to tell me it was a plastic bird. Yes I can’t tell the difference between real and fake. Need to call the eye doctor. Finally I calm down. Frank says “mommy it was a fake bird. I thought you were crying cuz you burned the macaroni.”
Timmy throws a car. I take the car and the car tracks away. As I’m putting it away I hear Timmy following behind me and Frank saying, “Timmy, go hit mommy. She took your car away.”
Frank says I want pancakes for breakfast. I said ok let’s go make some. He said “I want daddy to make them. Sometimes yours have brown parts.”
Frank retells the story of why Timmy came down crying in the morning. “I was like this.” Frank lying down on cough and kicking his legs. “Because I was lonely that Timmy left.” “Were you bothering him?” I asked. “No,” Frank replies. “I was lying in his bed and he told me to leave and I didn’t.” “So he left to find mommy.”
